Narcotics Anonymous - A non-profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only ONE requirement for membership, the desire to stop using.

Claire's Law
This scheme enables the police to release information about any previous history of violence or abuse a person might have. Under Clare's Law you can:
- Apply for information about your current or ex-partner because you're worried they may have a history of abuse and are a risk to you

West Yorkshire Police have specially trained officers who can provide support and practical assistance to those who suffer domestic abuse, for example in making your home safer. The England Illegal Money Lending Team (EIMLT) STOP LOAN SHARKS
EIMLT is a national Trading Standards Team with a remit to prosecute loan sharks and to support victims of the crime. The team uses the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to obtain warrants and has the power to enter properties, seize evidence, arrest, charge and prosecute criminals acting as loan sharks. IMLT will investigate and prosecute for all crimes that are linked to illegal money lending and provide full support to victims who at the point of reporting have often reached their crisis point and urgently need the help.

Turning Lives Around - Beacon Leeds
Coronavirus -Referral and admissions update - Beacon is continuing to move clients onto independence and is still accepting a limited number of referrals for clients entering the service. A new eligibility criteria has been introduced for the service: currently they will only be accepting referrals from Leeds Housing Options and clients who are staying at the temporary emergency accommodation facilities provided by Leeds City Council.
The exceptions to this are urgent safeguarding cases and hospital discharge.
These are temporary measures to deal with the current crisis

Self Care
We can’t change our age or our genes, and there is currently no way we can completely prevent dementia. However, there are some simple steps we can all take to help lower our risk.
Risk factors for cardiovascular disease (like high blood pressure and stroke) are also risk factors for dementia, so what is good for your heart is good for your brain. Looking after your health, cutting out smoking and being physically active on a regular basis will help lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. It’s likely you’ll be lowering your risk of dementia too, particularly vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
For good heart health:
- don’t smoke
- keep cholesterol and blood pressure under control
- be active and exercise regularly
- maintain a healthy weight
- eat a healthy balanced diet
- drink fewer than 14 units of alcohol per week.

The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme that encourages carers, family and friends to provide and put together useful information, which can then be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing.

The Herbert Protocol is an initiative introduced by West Yorkshire Police and other agencies which encourages carers to compile useful information which could be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing.
Carers, family members and friends can complete, in advance, a form recording all vital details, such as medication required, mobile numbers, places previously located, a photograph etc. In the event of your family member or friend going missing, the form can be easily sent or handed to the police to reduce the time taken in gathering this information.

Support Services - Adults
Adults can self-refer to Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services. IAPT is a national NHS programme, which offers evidence based psychological therapies or interventions approved by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). IAPT is primarily for treating people with mild to moderate mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
IAPT treatments are delivered via a stepped care model where patients are initially offered low intensity therapies, such as computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (cCBT) and guided self-help. If these treatments are unsuccessful, or not appropriate for individuals, higher intensity therapies are utilised and include one to one cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or interpersonal therapy (IPT). Veterans Combat Stress is the UK's leading mental health charity for veterans. They offer free, confidential 24-hour support to Service and ex-Service personnel who are experiencing mental health issues, including feeling suicidal.

LMWS are working in a joined up way across Leeds with NHS partners and third sector organisations to make sure the people of Leeds can get the right mental wellbeing support. Mindwell is a mental health website for people in Leeds providing useful information about how to take care of your mental wellbeing and providing a range of self-help techniques.
Mindmate is the Single Point of Access for all children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health services in Leeds. Migrant Help protect people affected by displacement and exploitation, helping them thrive as individuals and recover from their trauma. Praxis
Praxis provide expert support to migrants and refugees in the UK. HARP (Health Access for Refugees Programme) Leeds
HARP have volunteers, who speak many languages, who can befriend clients on a weekly basis. They also run many zoom activities include ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for Health, a health conversation group, pilates and art therapy. They can top up people’s phone by £20 a month if needed to help them access HARP activities.

Self Care
Although most people need some kind of social contact to maintain good mental health, everyone has different social needs. The person may be someone who is content with a few close friends, or they may need a large group of varied acquaintances to feel satisfied.
State that the simplest way to ease feelings of loneliness can be to try to meet more, or different, people.
- Can they think of anything they are interested in, a class or a group they have heard of, that could help connect them with new people? See Useful contacts for ideas of how to find groups. The Red Cross Connecting Communities team can help you connect with your local community and meet new friends.
- Volunteering is a good way of meeting people. Helping others can also really help improve mental health. See useful contacts for organisations that can help someone find local volunteering opportunities.

Loneliness in Older People
The Silver Line - A free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people. The Silver Line can also put people in contact with community activities in your local area.

It is recognised that Loneliness is not something that is exclusive to older adult, indeed many younger adults in particular can experience loneliness and a recent report from the office for national statistics highlighted Britain as the loneliest capital of Europe.

Careview app
Careview is an app used by people working in the community. It’s used in Leeds to look for links between social isolation/loneliness and things that can be observed when walking through a neighbourhood.

The app can help find people who are socially isolated or at risk and is co-designed with outreach workers, housing officers, health professionals, clinicians, academics, police and fire service.
The potential benefits are:

- raising awareness and fixing gaps in the current referral pathways
