What is a Family Hub?
The Family Hubs provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for you and your family. They bring together all the support your family may need, from pregnancy through to young people turning 19 (or up to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
Family Hubs offer a range of services like parenting support, health advice, and child development activities. Here’s a website with more details about the ones in our area.

Calderdale Family Hubs provide comprehensive support and services for families, from pregnancy through to young adulthood. There are five main Family Hub areas: Central Halifax, Upper Valley, North Halifax, Lower Valley, and Calder & Ryburn. Each hub offers tailored activities and support to meet the needs of the local community.
Key services include:
- Family Journey Support: Guidance from pre-pregnancy through to school age, including antenatal care, health visitor support, and developmental check-ups. Activities and support groups are available at various stages, such as baby stay and play groups and early education options.
- Health and Wellbeing: Access to midwives, health visitors, breastfeeding support, and mental health resources. The hubs provide advice and assistance with health-related questions and safeguarding concerns.
- Educational Support: Information and assistance with early years and childcare, primary school admissions, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The hubs also support parents with courses and resources to aid child development.
- Local Directories: Easy access to local information and services, including the Adults Directory, Early Years Directory, and SEND Directory, to help families find the right support and activities in their area.
These hubs are designed to bring services together, improving access and fostering better connections between families, professionals, and the community.
